It's that time again...

It's that time again... SOLs are upon us!

Please remind your students that they are prepared! With a good night of sleep and a proper breakfast, all that's left is to relax and do their best.

Reading Group Project

One of our reading groups, the Sweet Frogs, recently finished a book by Avi titled Something Upstairs. They created a project to showcase the main events of the story (and their summarizing skills) and they shared with the class today. A job well done, Sweet Frogs!

Pamplin Park Field Trip

Last week, we enjoyed a field trip to the Pamplin Historical Park in Petersburg, Virginia. Despite the rain, the kids had a great time and explored all aspects of the Civil War.

A big thank you to our 10 (yes, 10!) chaperones for accompanying us.
Learning about camp life during the Civil War

Practicing marching formation

Learning about the rifles used

Practicing loading and shooting rifles (pretend)

Exploring artifacts to learn about field slave, house slave, farmer, and plantation owner lives
In addition to the activities in the above pictures, we explored the museum on site, walked through a plantation house, slave quarters, and learned about life in Confederate army camps.
